The Public Service Department of the City of Kent is in charge of all public works and improvements, construction, engineering, and inspections. They oversee the following:
City’s water distribution system
Repairs and maintenance
Road constructions
Sidewalk construction and maintenance
Storm water management
Water reclamation system
Public Service Director
The position of the Public Service Director was established by the Kent City Charter Section 54. The Public Service Director is in charge of the making and the preservation of all surveys, maps, plans and drawings and estimates for public work, the cleaning, resurfacing and striping, repairing, and lighting of streets and public places; and the preservation of all property belonging to the City and pertaining to the functions thereof. The Director performs such other duties consistent with the office as may be required by the Charter, by ordinance of the Council, or as directed by the Manager.
The Public Service Director reports directly to the City Manager.
