Harris and West Street
The neighborhood of Cedar Street, Dodge Street, West Street and Harris Street
has had a history of storm sewer problems over the years. The residents have
reported storm water flooding problems during heavy rain events.

Prior flooding occurrences have been in part due to the blockage of a
sandstone box culvert that outlets storm water flow under the ABC Railroad to
Mogadore Road and the Cuyahoga River.
The proposed improvements will include the construction of a head wall with a
trash rack, and stabilization of the stream channel banks.
Properties located on the south end of Dodge and Elm Streets, Cedar Street,
Alley 24, West and Harris Street will also realize a benefit from the proposed
improvements to the drainage outlet structure west of Harris that receives storm
runoff from the aforementioned areas.
Funding for this project is from a Community Development Block Grant through
the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Additional Improvements will be constructed in the neighborhood if future
grant funding becomes available. These improvements involve construction of
storm sewer with catch basins and swales to collect drainage on West Street from
Alley 24 north through the Harris Street intersection to the stone culvert
crossing the Railroad.
