Cherry/Middlebury
The first phase of this project was constructed in the year 2005 in
conjunction with a City of Akron waterline project. Phase I of this project tied
into a 12-inch water main between Lower Drive and Akron Boulevard.
The new 12 inch main was constructed south along Akron Boulevard and
Middlebury Road to a point where it crosses the Cuyahoga River within the City
of Akron’s right-of-way and continues south through an easement to Boel Drive.
This section provides an additional waterline crossing of the Cuyahoga River.
Phase II will include the construction of 2442 feet of 12 inch watermain
including hydrants, from the southern termini of Phase I continuing south to SR
261, east along SR 261 to Cherry Street, then northeast along Cherry Street
connecting to the 12-inch dead-end watermain on Cherry Street.
The completion of the both phases of the project will interconnect the
Mogadore water tank to the Fairchild water tank. The completed project will
provide for better flow throughout the distribution system, decrease service
interruptions due to dead-end lines and increase flow for fire protection.
