The Community Development Team is involved with a number of activities that impact the overall development of Kent.  These activities include Development Review, Historic Preservation, Neighborhood Development, Community Development Block Grant administration, Economic Development Assistance, Zoning and Building Permit Approvals,  administration and enforcement of the City's Zoning and Subdivision Codes.

The Community Development Team is here to provide a one-stop-answer to all of your development project questions, regardless of size.

The Planning and Zoning Division implements Community Development Block Grants for various community needs within the City.  Some of these funds are used to implement several housing programs, including Owner Occupied Housing Program, a Rental Housing Rehabilitation Program and a Homeownership Assistance Program.  Questions concerning these programs should be referred to Mike Weddle, Plans Administrator.

Heather Phile, Development Planner, can answer questions about zoning regulations and zoning permit approval.  Heather is the staff liaison to the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Architectural Advisory Review Board.

Development engineering and stormwater questions can be answered by Jennifer Barone, Development Engineer.  Jennifer provides staff assistance to the Planning Commission.

The Planning and Zoning Division of the Community Development Department provides staff support to the Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, Environmental Commission, Architectural Review Board and the Community Reinvestment Area Housing Council.
