At the recommendation of the Sustainability Commission and the approval of Kent City Council, City of Kent staff submitted a Bicycle Friendly Community application to the League of American Bicyclists (the League) in February 2020.
The League represents bicyclists in the movement to create safer roads, stronger communities, and a Bicycle Friendly America. The League looks at many biking variables surrounding Education, Encouragement, Enforcement and Engineering. They also look at Key Outcomes like ridership and safety records for bicyclists.
Why should Kent submit for a Bicycle Friendly community designation?
- Impartial comparison to Kent’s neighboring communities that have achieved a Bicycle Friendly Community designation
- The League will provide a report showing where our community can improve in becoming a more bikeable community.
- Improve the quality of life for the residents and visitors of Kent.
To help us gain a better understanding of local bicyclists’ experiences in our community, the League created a short survey. This survey is meant to provide context for the League as they review our application, as well as provide valuable feedback directly from bicyclists in Kent.
A link to the survey is here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/app_BFC_Sp2020.
The survey takes about 10-15 minutes to complete and will remain open until Monday, April 27th. Thank you for your feedback!
